2023 Spring Production
In one of the scenes in Secret Love, the character Director interacts with the "audience" and the control booth saying that they project the wrong image; it should be a background in the hospital instead of Jiang's family photo. On the left is the fake family photo created by Yaohan Ye, which has the actors' faces on.
Since the setting of Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land is in the theatre, the original production includes many backdrops hanging in the back. Due to our constraints in funds and skills, this time, we decided to realize the scenic backgrounds through projection. The process was not easy though as we ran into many technical difficulties, including couldn't be in contact with the projector rental company, not having enough line sets and distance on stage, etc. Our final solution was to do a rear projection by placing the projector at the back and having the screen hanging between the thrust and the proscenium portion of the stage.
